PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As we went into Lockdown in the UK in March, The Nth Degree Global’s founder Robert Walton MBE was preparing to launch Young Chef Young Waiter for 2020. As the President of the Restaurant Association, Robert knew that the industry was facing an unprecedented situation, but also, as an eternal optimist, wanted to do what he could to help. So we utilised our strongest channels; our newsletter and Instagram to talk to our audience and launch Young Chef Young Waiter as Lockdown continued.

EVALUATION

 Initially, we focused on delivering weekly Lockdown update messages by videos which showed very strong results, so we built upon this to start filming cooking videos which have flourished into the popular Dazzler Does series on Instagram stories. The launch of Young Chef Young Waiter was welcomed by the press and we amplified this by launching Restaurant Live on Instagram where Robert interviews past winners, judges and influential members of the hospitality industry including Theo Randall, Tom Aikens, Claude Bosi, Jason Atherton and Adam Handling. We were delighted to see his Instagram account surge from 5k followers to over 7k in one May and the content was replicated on the newsletter where the open rate increased by 20%.
