As a relative novice in menswear, this was my first visit to Chester Barrie’s LCM show, but boy they knocked my socks off. The venue was a sublime room at the Waldorf Hilton which was so grand, I could have just stayed there forever.

It had much the red carpet awards theme with, yah you guessed it, a red carpet with male models wearing the sharpest suits fit for an A-list occasion welcoming you to the event. They handily arranged themselves in the perfect positions to be papped wearing traditional black suits and a pop of colour from emerald green and ruby red jackets.

Behind them was a red carpeted staircase with a big screen displaying images of all the gorgeous award winning celebrities who were wear their clothes – naturally. Mannequins also sported the new collection with dapper layers from the iconic Savile Row tailor. I love the heritage style pieces with subtle prints and textures. You know it’s really LCM when you spot David Gandy pants (sorry this is what happens when Marks & Spencers routinely display him in his boxers) so am I pleased to report he was present and correct, looking super suave.

I happened to be standing behind the red carpet models and in front of the stairs when David arrived so I enjoyed taking snaps of the paps taking snaps of the models in front of the screen….ohhhh I’m getting dizzy! As you can see, this was the perfect setting for a brand synonymous with tailoring for special occasions.

I also ran  (at speed, fuelled by champagne and wearable heels) after David Gandy who was a delight and agreed to be photographed in his swish grey suit and polka dot tie. Thanks to my pal Kate Gorbunova (pictured with me below) for…erm…well…bossing him into the best light. Photographers eh?

As events go, for sheer scale, great casting, a fitting setting, the grandeur of the film in the background, Instagram-ability (I know that ain’t a word!) and David flipping Gandy, full marks for this one!
