Every May the highly anticipated Chelsea Flower Show rolls into London and with it, we celebrate Chelsea in Bloom as the shop fronts get a floral makeover for the week from 20 – 25 May.

This year the theme is Under the Sea (2018 was the Summer of Love as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot in the same week last year) so expect plenty of ocean inspired plants and sea creatures.

The idea is to focus on our wonderful underwater world which we desperately need to conserve and protect. The oceans are incredibly beautiful and provide the perfect inspiration for colourful shopfronts.

Chelsea in Bloom have partnered with charity Plastic Oceans UK who have created a fantastic display featuring rubbish taken from the oceans topped with beautiful flowers. The idea is to show us what the real effect the plastic pollution is having on out planets.

A giant octopuses were the order of the day with several retailers choosing to display at Kiki McDonough (seriously impressive), Polpo, Thomas Hackett and Moyses Stevens. A giant mermaid was a winner at Sarah Chapman, Jellyfish at Monica Vinader, a huge whale was centre stage on Pavilion Road and a beautiful starfish was my favourite at Jigsaw in Duke of York Square.
